March Madness

My bracket is completely shot thanks to the home-team's loss in the 3rd round and my hope for the Orangemen to go all the way. Luckily, my bracket that I've got the biggest wager with is against Chris and his is crap too except if Okla pulls it out tomorrow. The winner will be enjoying TWO HOURS of alone time completely locked away from the rest of the family. We'll have to wait and see.

All the March Madness put the idea in Chris' head that it was time for Caro to have a basketball goal to start practicing on. She had the Air Jordan move down on the first day...

Caroline really has no hair but the tiny whisps that she did have were falling into her eyes so after some convincing of the grandmothers she had her first hair cut while we were in Beebe this week. She LOVED sitting in the high chair all by herself but didn't like those scissors too much!

Another plug for downtown

I say this every spring but I'll say it again: my favorite time to be on Mud Island is in the spring! Today was a real treat because I was given the VIP tour at the Island's newest boutique hotel, the River Inn. I have to say the prices are steep but if you want to indulge yourself then that's where to do it. Super nice suites with fireplaces and river views, two yummy restaurants (one that I got to taste-test today), and in the heart of HarborTown. If you're visiting Memphis then go for it! http://www.riverinnmemphis.com/

In a pinch

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Chris decided to tell me at 7:30 pm last night that his office was having a potluck. Who has a potluck for St. Patrick's Day... I mean seriously! His office is a living example of "The Office". So what's a girl to do when she's gotta whip something up for a potluck? Luckily Philadelphia Cream Cheese always comes through when I'm in a pinch.

These are so easy and so tasty. I'm embarassed to share how simple this recipe is but I said I would so try it for yourself...

(Can't take credit for this photo. I did mine today with all green sprinkles to really get folks in the holiday spirit!)

What You Need (I used all low-fat ingredients.)
1 package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 tub (8 oz.) cool whip thawed
12 Oreo Cookies

1. Beat cream cheese and sugar until well blended.
2. Gently stir in whipped topping.
3. Place cookies on bottom of 12 paper-lined muffin cups.
4. Spoon cream cheese mixture into muffin cups. Top with sprinkles.

Refrigerate until ready to serve. Yummy!

Ask me how far I ran today.

This family couldn't bear the thought of a dreary weekend inside so we decided to take a road trip. A little outdoor run was calling my name but first Caroline got some time in the 'country'.

MOOOO!!

My thought mid-day Saturday was that I could at least WALK the Little Rock Half Marathon since I already paid for it. Yup, I could walk it because I hadn't touched my running shoes in over a month because of my calf strain and there would be no way I could run it. So I talked Chris into it and we headed out. (He later told me he thought I was crazy but he didn't want to tell me that at the time.)
The walking part of the race never happened, which I will probably regret tomorrow when I can't get out of bed. Finished with a time of 2:30 which isn't horrible considering I haven't been running and I ate almost a whole pan of cream-cheese brownies in the 24 hours prior.

I called Chris at Mile 11 and told him he better get off the couch and come document me finishing this thing. I wouldn't actually call him my fan club but, thank you, Audra, for cheering me on! One of my favorite shirts that I saw a runner wearing said "Ask me how far I ran today". I wasn't planning on it but I ran 13.1.

She's BA-ACK!

I know she had fun...

but we're glad she's back. Thank you grandmothers and aunts!
Oh, and how quickly I forgot how much energy it takes just to get out the door in the mornings. Whew!

Ike returns to his post as King of the House

Ike is currently reveling in his moment of peace and wearing his crown as the favorite child again because Miss Caroline has gone away for the weekend. We all miss her terribly... even Ike.

Here's a few pictures from Friday as we were out enjoying the sunshine!

Caroline is spending a few days with the grandmothers because we attended the wedding celebration of our dear friends Denny and Lori. Besides the minor distraction of a swarm of bees in the santuary it was a great WM-style par-tay and great to see so many ASU friends.
Pics from the reception...
Two people that have chosen to (voluntarily) join our family for some crazy reason! And that I am so lucky to have around!!

Stimulus package

Our stimilus package officially went effect a few weeks ago: We made the switch to cups and pure milk! So today we had a retirement party, packed up bottles and threw away the last of the formula. Goodbye!
