Trying to Carpe Diem

Last week I read a great blog post titled "Don't Carpe Diem". It was funny and cathartic, but the part I related to the most was the author's explanation of rather than trying to seize each chaotic, tiring, unorganized moment of parenthood to instead relish in 'Kairos time'..."Kairos is God's time. It's time outside of time. It's metaphysical time. It's those magical moments in which time stands still."

This week my sweet Caroline turned four. (Four going on fourteen.) She requested a birthday dinner of green beans, green peas, mashed potatoes and three cupcakes. A bath followed dinner. Following her bath she sat on my bed in her robe and we painted her toenails and fingernails a variety of colors, and then she wanted me to paint mine and Cate's. I cherished my Kairos Caroline time.
