Memorial Memories

We had a fantastic extra-long weekend! But unfortunately we left our camera home alone, and in the world of blogs, FB, and visually hungry audiences a post without pics doesn't satisfy. So for our thosands of screaming fans here's Plan B on how to capture our Memorial Day weekend.

Chris and I started a tradition (that even lead to our proposal story) at least ten years ago of keeping a 'box' of memories. Each year we set aside a shoe box and fill it thoughout the year with peices of little memories. There are lots of restaurant receipts, post-it notes, cards, and pictures, and each year on our anniversary we open the box. I certainly didn't keep everything that would be 'box worthy' from this weekend but when we emptied our pockets here's what was left...

  • a Hershey's wrapper from having a camp-out at Papa Dave's pond
  • a sandwich bag from Bob's Food City, the only place to get anything to eat at Mt. Ida's "Good Ole Days Fest". It was a darn good sandwich for $2.99.
  • the receipt for two canoe rentals to spend the day on the Caddo with our good friends the Morgans and five thosand Arkansas rednecks
  • the ticket stub from taking advantage of one extra vacation day before Chris starts summer school and spending it as a date day

We hope you had a great long weekend too!
