The Booty Contest!

The best part about my job is that I work with some amazing and very talented people. So when I returned from maternity leave I was telling my co-worker Stephanie that Caroline needed some shoes to wear to school. A second later Stephanie had volunteered to MAKE Caroline some shoes! A few weeks later -- Ta Da!! Not just any ole booties but award-winning ones!

These bad boys took a runner-up spot in the Michael Miller Baby Booty Contest! See all the other great entries here. A big thank you to Stephanie! and to Thor, another multi-talented designer that I have the privilege of working with, who coordinated the photo shoot! (Yes, the photo shoot just for Caroline's booties. None of my shoes have ever had their own photo shoot.)

A weekend for sleeping...

Caroline's had a little ear infection so most of what my family has done this weekend is sleep. It's given me time to do the fun stuff like laundry, grocery shopping and updating the blog. Thus you see the bold and beautiful new layout. I'd been meaning to give it a new look for a while but I'm so picky so it was time-consuming finding the new look.

We did get out last night for a night out! My wonderful friend Kelly came over to hang with Caroline & Ike so we could venture out with some friends from HBG.

Ike was needing a W-A-L-K so this morning we headed over to the UM campus...

Our new favorite place

When you come across a true gem you just know it. Tonight we found one and it's our 'new favorite place'. Thanks to Chris' watching of the Travel Channel (in his eternal pining to go to the Caribbean) he found the Hollywood Cafe known for it's famous fried pickles. So because I needed an excuse to go to the Carter's outlet and buy Caro another too-cute swimsuit we decided to make a night of it in Tunica. The drive was so worth it for those fried pickles, served with ranch of course (Wilkie are you drooling?), good music and warm pecan pie.

(Can't take credit for the photo.)

This place is best known for giving inspiration to the song "Walking in Memphis"...

They've got catfish on the table
They've got gospel in the air
And Reverend Green be glad to see you
When you haven't got a prayer
But boy you've got a prayer in Memphis

Now Muriel plays piano
Every Friday at the Hollywood
And they brought me down to see her
And they asked me if I would --
Do a little number
And I sang with all my might
And she said --
"Tell me are you a Christian child?"
And I said "Ma'am I am tonight"

Then I'm walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel

We'll be back!

No Redneck Pool Party this year

So the last two years we've hosted a true Redneck Pool Party complete with blow-up pools that we dragged lawn chairs (or ice chests) in to cool our feet off, cooked ribs and ate watermelon, and sprayed on plenty of OFF. At the end of the night we'd pull the lawn chairs around front to mingle with the neighbors and watch the very rich folks over at the Memphis Country Club do their fireworks show across the street. But this year since the 4th was on a Friday we headed to Arkansas to celebrate with the Nick/Choate/White/Darwin crews and it was great! Oh, and we are so glad the newly-wed Morgans joined our celebration road trip! Hope everyone else had a great holiday too!

The 5 Month Mark

Ok readers, here's your weekly dose of what's happening with Caroline... first, she's 5 months old today! Well, sort of since it's the 30th and her birthday is the 31st -- close enough! She is still rolling over constantly but gets mad when she can't flip back over. Everything is edible. Oh, and she finally noticed that we have this big, brown beast in the house with us. The good thing is she likes him (so far).

Here's pictures from our night out at Autozone. Bringing a blanket and sitting hillside is definitely the way to go...

We don't need a fancy pool membership...Caroline just has her own pool now! Unfortunately, Ike's pool didn't last through the winter though so he's just got to wait until we can get a replacement. We had a great weekend enjoying the semi-cooler weather -- played with the Anthony girls, went to the zoo on Saturday, enjoyed drinks on the deck at the Halls, and of course pool-ing on Sunday.

Oh, but the big news is that she is turning over like crazy, non-stop! We can't turn our back for a second before she's in a new position. She loves it!

Finally a chance to wear our tutu swimsuit

Pool party time with Grandpa Dave! Not really sure what to think about the water but she sure looked cute!

Hello Aunt Ash!

Happy Father's Day to all!
