Chris 1, Laura 0

In Chris' efforts to convince me that he has the potential to be Mrs. Doubtfire (without the Tootsie make-up), on Day 1 he has won. Four days to go and the score is Chris 1, Laura 0. Grocery shopping -- including picking up flowers, cleaning -- including mopping, my least favorite household chore, and having dinner ready when I made it home. Not sure he can make it the whole week at this pace but I'm anxious to see! Thank you, Chris!!!!

Miss Thang

Yes indeed that's a bow in Caroline's hair! She finally has enough to sustain a real hair bow! Luckily, Aunt Audra had given us this one about a year ago and we've had it ready to go for a time like this. Caroline pulled it off after about 30 minutes.

Her 15 month stats from her check up two weeks ago...
Weight: 20.5 (10th percentile)
Height: 30.25" (25-50th percentile)
Hopefully this means she'll be tall and thin like her uncles!

Take me out to the ballgame

And bring me some Rendevous nachos, a pronto pup and some Cheerios!

Swine pandemic

If there is one weekend that really sums up what Memphis is all about it’s got to be this weekend: BBQ Fest. Music Fest is about tourists battling mud; BBQ Fest is about Memphians embracing it. There is no way to really understand the craziness of BBQ Fest until you experience yourself. Luckily, I got my first taste of the 2009 Piggy Contest today at lunch with the Natural Born Grillers team -- last year's Grand Champion! Their smoked chicken was unbelievable. (Sorry you had to miss it, Chris.) Thank goodness we had that one mile mud hike back to the office to walk off some of it.

Yes, this was my plate and I had a sandwich, dry ribs and chicken!

Happy Mother's Day

Call it an early Mother's Day present: Caroline and I spent the whole afternoon together today and had so much fun! Chris was supposed to be studying (wish him luck on his Praxis in the morning!) so we decided to get out of his way and headed to the Children's Museum for our inaugural visit.

Caroline doing what she does best -- sorting and organizing! Here she is in the 'Kroger' store organizing beets and potato soup. She wouldn't allow me to put anything in the cart!

In the fire truck! Wouldn't Poppa Willie be proud!

We also enjoyed watching the kites wave in the breeze at Overton Park (and of course sliding, her second favorite thing to do after organizing). Kelly, thanks for coming out to play with us!

We send our love to our Mothers and Grandmothers and hope they have a wonderful Mother's Day! We love you all very much and are so lucky to have you all!

Memphis in Mud

I can't believe I let Wendy and Wilkie talk me into going out on Beale in the rain in the middle of Musicfest weekend. Oh well, thanks for the memories...it was worth it just to people watch!
