Worth a thousand words

During her last week at school they brought in a photographer for Christmas pictures. I almost didn't do it because I thought they were going to be cheesy. I'm glad I changed my mind because this picture is truly worth a thousand words...

On the Move

Packing...

Walking...
Moving! It is a bittersweet time for us as we close on the sale of our house this week and transition into our new neighborhood. Caroline has also started a new school! We loved, loved, loved Bright Horizons but she has now started the Foreign Language Immersion School on Mud Island. Yesterday was a little rocky (I think for me more than her) but we are expecting great things and for Caroline to be saying "Hola!" as her first word soon. She is SO mobile now and loves her new 'walker' that Papa Dave got her. We are excited about what's in store with the new house and new school and being back on the Arkansas side of the river!!!

Bumper Cars

This photo is courtesy of the culprit. The culiprit that played bumper cars with our luxury automobile while innocently parked in the Front Street lot.

She was a very kind culprit though; she left a note and downloaded these pictures for me. Thank you, Ashley Buske.

Blogging, not packing

I am suppose to be packing but I'm tired so I am blogging instead because I need to send some 'shout outs' to some folks!
First, a big shout out all my lovely girls from Grace Group. We had another Rock Band and Ribs get together with the boys and the girls thanks to John and Cherie that was much fun!

The next shout out goes to Team Pinky Swear, our HBG team for Race for the Cure today. We actually all found each other in the sea of 15,000 people! Yup, probably the last year I do that especially with the stroller because there are just too many people. And too many people that can't put one foot in front of the other. I actually saw someone walking it in Crocs! Another reason why Crocs are so annoying! Yes, the race is for a good cause but it is also hard work -- battling the Memphis traffic is reason enough to skip out next year!

Team Pink Swear: Me, Rhonda Bologna, Leslie Vanelli and Ashley Buske

Another HBG shout out! The firm was honored last week by the Memphis Business Journal as a "Best Place to Work" in Memphis. This is a great recruitment tool I will get to use over the next year not to mention a big honor.

The heat is on!

My mother is probably not going to believe this but we actually turned the heat on at our house this weekend! It felt good to be warm! Even though the cold gave Caro an excuse to wear her Long John style P.J.'s. This was the first year that the heat actually came on the first time we tried it but I guess that's what a $5,000 new heating unit does for you!

One Headlight

So if you were driving on Poplar Wednesday night around 7:30 pm and saw blue lights in front of Second Pres you were probably thinking 'Oh busted'! Well that was me! But I wasn't busted for speeding I was pulled over -- and not just pulled over but the cop did a U-turn on Poplar to come get me -- for having one headlight out. He said it was a courtesy and gave me a 'Courtesy Ticket'. Yes, that was nice and courteous.

It was nice he didn't give me a ticket with a dollar amount attached. However, we were pulled over (with bright blue lights flashing and Caroline crying) for a while. People were staring and I am sure were wondering what an innocent looking person like me did. The whole time as I am sitting there (thinking I am going to kill Chris for not fixing it last weekend as promised) I am thinking... ok, this is the crime capital of America not to mention the place where everyone runs red lights because that's just how you drive in Memphis, and this guy is pulling me, in a semi-mom-machine over on my way home from CHURCH, over for one headlight being out! Doesn't he have more important things to be doing! I watch the First 48!

Well I appreciate the Courtesy Ticket (which he said I could throw away or show to other nice policemen who pull me over), and hopefully it will inspire Chris to fix it, but get back to work fighting crime Mr. Police Guy!!!

Once a Badger, Always a Badger...

And so the Class of '98 Badgers gathered this weekend for Homecoming and our class reunion. No real surprises in seeing everyone (maybe this is why Chris skipped his 10-yr) but it was fun hanging with the same old group from back in the good old days.

Here is my little badger getting ready for the Homecoming parade:

Making new friends at the cookout:

Some of the 98ers. I just realized this has both my junior and senior prom dates and my husband. Weird!!!

Guy and Ash were our 'reunion crashers' but they certainly made things much more fun. This, obviously, is Guy and Chris signing "98".

Being in Beebe topped off a great week for us last week... more details to come soon!!!
